Hello.

I have many subscribers who tell me this: "I subscribed to my comments only for one article, and I get emails for all the comments of the article, even when they are not mine it is annoying".

How can you please avoid this?

Hi @cuk,

 wpDiscuz doesn't have any auto-subscribe feature. In the case of the wpDiscuz plugin, it sends the notifications only if the user subscribes directly to the current article.

Please read this FAQ, here we've described all wpDiscuz subscription types.: https://wpdiscuz.com/community/f-a-q/wpdiscuz-subscription/

Probably you've some other plugins or some custom code that subscribes users once the post is created.

@asti Hello Asti and thank you for your reply.

The subscription is not automatic for my users.

If they don't subscribe, they don't receive an email, that's quite normal.

My users receive comments in two situations:

Option 1: they subscribe to all the articles (see figure) and then they receive all the e-mails of the article and that is normal

Option 2:

They only subscribe to comments in response to their own comment.

The problem is in situation 2: when they subscribe to replies only to their comments, they receive replies as if they had chosen option 1.

What to do about it?

@cuk

We've subscribed to your website via the second option and only received the email only for the reply:

Dear @cuk,

Do you have the wpDiscuz – Subscription Manager addon? If yes, you can easily check and see which subscription type the current user has.

@asti Yes, I am subscribed to this addon and have activated it.

Do you have a manual for it please, I'm not sure I understand it all.

@cuk,

You can navigate to the Dashboard > wpDiscuz > Subscriptions admin page and check the current user's subscription type.

Yes, I understand that, that's what I do.

But it is the module itself that is not clear:

All Comment = all comments in response to MY comments in this article? Correct?

Post= all comments about this article? Correct?

Comment = Just comments about one marked comment? Correct?

And I'm sorry, I have computer-savvy readers who know a little about how comments work: they subscribe to THEIR comments only, and they receive replies to other people's comments. This does not work properly.

They confirmed this to me just yesterday.

Thank you for your help.

Friendly

François

Dear @cuk,

We've checked again many times with different cases and still don't see such an issue. We've received the email only in the case the reply is made under the current user's comment.

It works as expected.
