After your update last week, the Reply button on our website stopped working.

Every time we try to use it, it takes us and our users to a blank page (Page ID https://www.inner-sanctuary.com/?page_id=411618 ).

Then nothing happens. All we can do is hit the "back" button which takes us back to our website's homepage.

This kind of issue is usually caused by either conflict with other plugins or the active theme.

So, please deactivate the plugins/theme one by one and check after each deactivation to find the problem maker.

At first, deactivate the "comments like dislike" and the "file attach" plugin.

Please press CTRL+ F5 (twice) on the frontend before checking.

@asti One by one I worked down through our plugins.  After I deactivated each one, I checked to see if the Reply button was working or not.  I did this test on 22 plugins.  The 23rd plugin is WP-SpamShield.  When I deactivated that plugin, the Reply button started working again.  We have had WP-SpamShield for a long time and we like it.  Looks like there is some kind of a conflict between WP-SpamShield and wpDiscuz.  Do you have any idea as to what could be done about it?  Does wpDiscuz have built-in features that could make WP-SpamShield unnecessary?

@jbwx2,

Do you have any idea as to what could be done about it?

You can contact plugin support and ask probably there is some setting you should change.

Does wpDiscuz have built-in features that could make WP-SpamShield unnecessary?

Please check out this FAQ: https://wpdiscuz.com/community/f-a-q/how-to-protect-comment-section/

Looks like Akismet is the way to go.  I tried to contact plugin support for wp-spamshield and found out that the company that made it (Red Sand Media Group) is now out of business.  Their web site is down, and their phone number is disconnected.
