I've been able to make the live bubble update when a new comment is posted but I can't make the thread to update with the new post. I do see the comment number change from 3 to 4 but the post itself doesn't update to show the new post.
Do I need another plugin to update the thread post to show the new comment without reloading the page?

I was able to find my issue and fix it: Once you disable the "Break comments into pages with [X] top level comments" option, it should work fine.
It is now loading new post

Yes, the live update doesn't work in the case of pagination.
