We are currently running both wpForo and wpDiscuz for a large community. We have never encountered any issues until today, when we upgraded wpDiscuz from version 7.6.30 to 7.6.31.

Immediately after doing so, all default avatars were instantly removed for users who haven't uploaded a custom one. The missing avatars appear across all wpForo pages, including the profile pages themselves.

We confirmed this issue multiple times by reproducing it. Downgrading and then upgrading again proves with 100% certainty that this avatar conflict is caused by the latest version of wpDiscuz.

We also ensured the issue isn't triggered by any custom code, CSS, themes, or other plugins. We tested it by disabling all plugins except wpForo and wpDiscuz.

In the meantime, we have rolled back to version 7.6.30.

This needs to be fixed. Please advise!

Hi @webwolf,

The issue is fixed, please update the wpDiscuz to the latest version (v. 7.6.32), clear all kinds of caches and check again.Ā

Hi @webwolf,

Hi,

Thank you for confirming that there is indeed a conflict in the latest version of wpdiscuz and wpforo.

Unfortunately, even the latest version 7.6.32 has failed to fix this bug. I cleared all caches, both for wpForo and even our serve cache etc but all default wpForo avatars still go completely missing once the latest version (7.6.32) is activated. If we roll back toĀ 7.6.30, all of default avatars are visible again, without any issues.

So, unfortunately, the conflict issue still exists.

Just to clarify, user uploaded avatars show fine with 7.6.32. It is the DEFAULT avatars that go missing once 7.6.32 is activated..

Please advise...

@asti Ok, I'll see if I can get a test account, but my question is this: if you've already flagged this exact issue as a bug in the previous version of wpdiscuz, then obviously it's still an issue with the code on your end, no?

@webwolf

This is not a bug — it’s just added compatibility with BuddyPress plugin. We'll also check compatibility with wpForo.

It would be helpful if you could export both the wpDiscuz and wpForo plugin settings and send them to us. This will allow us to test the setup and see if it’s possible to make any adjustments in the wpDiscuz plugin.

@asti Why are you insisting this isn’t a bug? Earlier in the thread, you mentioned the issue was "fixed," but it clearly hasn’t been. If it wasn’t a bug, why would it need fixing in the first place, as you implied?

This issue is affecting more than just the default wpForo avatars, as you’re aware. There was another thread from a different user who was also experiencing missing avatar issues with their avatar plugin, but it looks like you’ve deleted that thread.

The latest version of wpDiscuz is affecting avatars across multiple different types of plugins. You should be able to reproduce this issue very easily by running the latest versions of both wpDiscuz and wpForo together. Uploaded avatars work fine; it’s only the default avatars that are missing in wpForo.

It is a big deal for us to simply hand over admin credentials without a strong reason. However, since others have already brought this issue to your attention, I’m not sure why you are still requesting admin access when it is clearly something in the latest version of wpDiscuz that is conflicting with WordPress avatars. Please advise and confirm whether you are currently reviewing the code for a fix. Thanks.
