in the old version, the 5 latests posters Avatars were shown.But in the new version, that option seems to be missing.
Is that correct?

That was removed by design. wpDiscuz 7 comment form and comment threads are fully redesigned.

I'm sorry but not. The previous solution was incomplete and very heavy. So showing the last 5 users avatars is not a good solution as well.
