[Solved] Whatsapp sharing error from mobile and laptop

Wanted to report the following bug :

1 . When we share a comment on WhatsApp mobile device (by clicking the share button on the comment) the link that propagates from the website comment to whatsapp is of the post /page link and not the comment link with the comment number

2. The WhatsApp sharing does not work on desktop/ Mac computers - as it asks for the WhatsApp to be downloaded vs recognizing the app already present on the machine.

On a side note: We had to register to this forum as well as the paid forum .. has to be simpler..just a suggestion.

IS THERE ANY UPDATE ON THIS PLEASE.

You may even try to share this particular post on whats app on the desktop and mobile to see the issue :

-The comment url does not get copied on mobile

- on the computer it asks for whatsapp download vs recognizing the app that is already installed

This is not a wpDiscuz plugin. It's a forum plugin called wpForo.

Yes, the issue exists, but it doesn't come from the wpDiscuz plugin. This should be changed by Whatsapp side not wpDiscuz.

Dear Asti and the wpdiscuz team.

We, as a customer, take time and effort to report bugs and issues with your plugin. But if support responses come as a no help to us nor wpdiscuz, then the community member may stop providing such input.

We hope this issue which exists with wpdiscuz is addressed in the coming updates, and if not, no worries.

Hi @nabros,

The same questions were asked many tomes for the wpForo forum plugin (the board we're currently using for this support topic) so sometimes we just want to make sure there is no confusion here.

Whatever, we've already noticed about these issues. The first is already in our to-do list.

The second issue can be easily fixed by changing the share URL from web.whatsapp.com to api.whatsapp.com. But we cannot do that yet. Currently, we only support website/webpage sharing type on the desktop with web.whatsapp.com share URL, because when the share button calls api.whatsapp.com some browsers returns error instead of initiating the software. We're still investigating this issue and don't want to do this change in a hurry. We'll continue searching for solutions and update the plugin once a good one is found.

Thank you for the response. Look forward to possible fixes in the future. Until then we will keep the whatsapp sharing deactivated.
