For some reason all comments have lost their linking to the pages they were left on. Nevertheless wpDiscuz has memorised their number on each page and shows their number. However, the comments themselves are not available. Transferring ‘lost’ comments to the basket or deleting them completely does not change the picture. The counters still show the presence of comments. Uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin does not change the situation. Can you tell me how to solve this problem?
I tried clearing both the page cache and the cache of all pages.
This condition persisted for a few days until I disabled the plugin so as not to mislead visitors.
Hi
We don't find such an issue on our test websites. Could you please send the admin login details to info[at]gvectors.com email address? I'll ask the developers to check the issue for you.
As you can see on the page I've linked, WPDisquz thinks there are 18 comments on the page. They were there at one time, created with WPDisquz, but now they have lost their binding and are just hanging in the system as not bound to any of the pages.
If I disable WPDisquz and plug in another plugin, it shows that there are no comments.
Hence we can conclude that the number of comments that WPDisquz displays is stored somewhere in the plugin data, not in the general site data. And if you force the plugin to update this data, everything will fall into place and the counter will reset to zero.
Ask your developers a question, what happens if we change the comment binding bypassing the system calls by simply changing or removing the page ID they are bound to?
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to give access to unauthorised people without a good reason. So far I see that your developers just don't know where to look and I'm ready to help by pointing out a couple of problematic scenarios that can be tried.
I suspect that the source of the problem is a bug in the Tako Movable Comments plugin. The problem with loss of bindings appeared after installing this plugin.
From additional information, I will say that I don't have any posts, only pages. Maybe this is also important.
Since I ‘broke’ the example page here's another link
You were right. Turns out other plugins just don't display the number of comments. Since I couldn't find a way to disable the number of comments in the plugin settings, I just hid them with CSS until I get the situation sorted out.
