[Solved] Font color comment form changing unwanted

Hi forum,

I run into a pretty annoying problem. Completely at random and not reproducable, the font color of the main comment form turns from black to white. Since the background is white as well, someone who wants to write a comment sees at that moment no text and gives up. This can happen to any post, disappear again and turn up under another post...

Any ideas what might cause this? Conflicting CSS-codes maybe?

And is there a way to force wpdiscuz to display the text in the form always in black? In settings the formtext is set set to black and the published commenttext resulting from it is set to white.

I'd appreciate any help with this!

Jos

Hi,

We’ve checked multiple times and couldn’t reproduce the issue you described on your website. In fact, if the font color is explicitly set, it cannot be overridden.

The most likely cause might be a caching issue. However, since we’re unable to see the problem, we’re unable to provide a specific solution.

Thanks for your efforts, Asli. If caches might be the cause, I'll clean every possible one and see if the issue comes back. If so, I'll check the dev-window to see if there is anything strange. If so, I'll get back to you to you for further wisdom 🙂

Thanks a lot for helping so far!

Hi Asti,

I did manage to reproduce the problem!

It happens after I adapt in WPD-settings the inviting text in the comment field. Say from 'react' to 'please react' or whatever. I save the changed sentence in settings, clear the WP-cache with 'LiteSpeed cache' and then...

At random posts, that can change everytime you open a new browser, the inviting text appears not in italic but in straight up font and when you start typing a comment the produced text is white on a white background...

I made screenshots of a post where you can see the straight up font, just before typing and right after. I opened the DEV-window in case that offers any helping info.

Seems like some kind of bug?

Anyway: I did manage to locate the problem, I think. But so far no solution 🙂

Some additional info: normally the placeholder dissapears at the first mouseclick or touch. When it goes wrong and the placeholder is in straight instead of italic font, the placeholder doesn't disappears until you start typing...

And... I again saved the settings of the 'sentences', again cleared all caches and now it looks as if the problem doesn't reoccur... yet? 🙂

To close this off properly from my end: it turned out that all kinds of adaptations made either in wpd-settings or through CSS (like colors or other style-issues) caused after the adaptation was implemented the problem with the comment-form as described.

Solution turned out to be clearing all possible caches in Wordpress I could find in my cache-plugin (LiteSpeed Cache).

Hope this helps when anybody runs into the same problem!

Jos
