For some posts it allows you to comment, and for other ones, primarily older posts, it doesn't allow any new comments. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi @farahaljallad,
Please go to Dashboard > Settings > Discussions admin page, make sure the "Automatically close comments on posts older than X days" option is not enabled.
Also please check and make sure the "Allow people to submit comments on new posts" option is checked.
