Hello Support Team,

I am experiencing an issue with how the comment hierarchy behaves after deleting a specific comment (e.g., spam or troll).

The Problem: When a comment is deleted, the replies attached to it are being incorrectly re-assigned to the comment immediately above it (the grandparent), rather than remaining as a reply to a "deleted user" or maintaining their context. This confuses the conversation flow.

Example: Original structure:

  1. User A (Root comment) — 2. User B (Troll/Spam) [Reply to User A] —— 3. User C (Replying to User B)

Action: I delete the comment by User B.

Current (Incorrect) Result:

  1. User A — 3. User C [Now shows as a direct reply to User A]

Why this is bad: User C was arguing with the Troll (User B). After deletion, it looks like User C is arguing with User A, which changes the context completely.

Expected Behavior: Previously, or normally, the reply should stay nested or show that it was a reply to a deleted participant, without shifting the parent ID to the previous commentator.

Could you please advise if there is a setting to disable this "auto-reparenting" of comments, or if this is a bug in the current version?

Thank you.

Please look at the attached screenshot. You can see clearly that after we deleted the "troll" comment, the user’s reply shifted. Now the user appears to be replying to themselves instead of the deleted user.

Let's say there is a "Test A" parent comment. Someone replies with "Text B" to the "Test A" parent comment, and then another user replies with "Text C" to "Text B". If you delete "Text B", then "Text C" will be hidden as well.

This is the native behavior of the WordPress comment system, and wpDiscuz works the same way.

We've recorded a video demonstrating how comment deletion works. Please watch it:
