What plugin or addon should I use with WPdiscuz to enable my website visitors to create a profile with their own avatar and additionally make it possible for them to earn different badges for commenting?

Each plugin that uses the native (core) WordPress hooks and functions will work fine with the wpDiscuz plugin.

The best alternative for this is profile plugins (BuddyPress, Ultimate Members...) or forum plugins like wpForo which allows you to have full control of profile components.
