[Solved] Are we allowed to upload a plugin that is using wpDiscuz's source code as a basis?

Hello,

I'm interested in downloading the source code and adding certain features to the plugin which i presume is ok since the project is open source, some questions:

would i be allowed to upload on WordPress the slightly altered plugin under a different name?
meaning other WordPress users will be able to embed it in their WordPress websites
would i be allowed to monetize it?

Hi @johncrowd,

You can do any changes and use it only for your websites. But you're not allowed to copy the plugin and put it in wordpress.org as a new plugin with different name. This is strongly prohibited, and you should never duplicate plugins even with some new features or changes.
