I want to use WpDiscuz for lead generation. Does the plugin allow me to add a custom commenter field, i this case, to require the user to leave their phone number?

Sure, just go to Dashboard > wpDiscuz > Forms admin page, edit your Default Form and use the comment form builder to manage it. Here is the documentation: https://wpdiscuz.com/docs/wpdiscuz-7/getting-started/manage-comment-forms/
