you can see the bug on your demo page:

If you type a german Ü this character will be transformed to a : (on the keydown event).

The issue will be fixed once the Quill editor release a new version. This is not the wpDiscuz issue it's a Quill editor issue.

We would like to respectfully address an ongoing issue that has been affecting our German-speaking users since September 2020.

The situation: The problem with the German capital Ü being displayed as a colon affects many of our German users. After almost 5 years, this has become a serious usability issue.

Our observations:

German users cannot correctly input the capital Ü
The problem occurs already during editing
Other editors on the same website work perfectly
This affects a significant portion of our community

Our request: Could you please let us know if a solution is being planned? If the issue is indeed within the Quill editor, an update or workaround would be very helpful.

We greatly appreciate your work on wpDiscuz and hope for a solution for our German-speaking users soon.

Update on the German Ü Issue:

I have conducted further testing and can narrow down the problem more specifically:

My findings:

The issue with the capital Ü being displayed as ":" occurs specifically with German keyboard layouts
With Swiss keyboard layouts, the capital Ü works correctly
Without the wpDiscuz Emoticons plugin activated, the capital Ü works perfectly with all keyboard layouts

Observation:

German users (with German keyboard layout) experience the Ü problem
Swiss users have no issues with the Ü
The problem disappears completely when the Emoticons addon is deactivated
