We have been reported by users that sometimes the "Waiting for approval" message is displayed to a wrong user (i.e. a user which is not the author of the comment).
On our site creating comments is allowed for non-authenticated users. Both, the original comment creator and the "wrong" user have not been authenticated. AFAIK in wpdicuz non-authenticated users are distinguished by their IP address. In this case the IP address of the original and the "wrong" user have been different and also from a different subnet.
Is this a known issue? Is there anything we can change in the settings? Please not that allowing only authorized users is not an option as we'd like to make the process of commenting as easy as possible.
Thank you for letting us know about the issue. it'd be nice if you could give us a bit more details, like how to reproduce the issue on our end. In any case, I sent this topic to the developers already, I'll post an update here ASAP.
@jacob Unfortunately I cannot provide any steps to reproduce this issue. It seems to happen quite rarely but it definitively did happen.Â
Only thing I can tell you that we switched from wordpress ajax handler to wpdiscuz ajax handler which didn‘t solve the issue.
Question: Can you confirm that identification of user regarding the waiting-for-approval-message is done by user‘s IP address (for non-logged-in users)?
Users can leave comments with their name and e-mail without being registered.
Not often but sometimes an unregistered commentator sees the "Waiting for approval" message on a comment which has been submitted by another unregistered commentator with another e-mail address (see screenshot).
Can it be a caching issue? Are there any additional information we can provide in order to solve the issue?
This is native WordPress logic. If there is an email in the cookies and a comment made by a user with the same email, the comment under moderation will be visible.
In other words, if two users wrote comments with the same email address, the comment under moderation will be visible to both users.
In case you want to say thank you! 🙂 We'd really appreciate if you leave a good review on the plugin page. This is the best way to say thank you to this project and the support team.
@asti Thanks but as I wrote above the two users did not use the same email address.
They are two different users which use distinct email addresses. Still it sometimes happens that a user sees the "Waiting for approval" message which "belongs" to another user.

@asti This has been reported by a reader of our blog. We have nothing but screenshots.
We checked the issue and can confirm that the reader which complained about this issue has another email address than the editor of the comment belonging to the waiting-for-approval-message.
I myself did once observe the issue in real but unfortunately did not investigate it further.
I do not know which additional information a video should provide. If there's an opportunity to record a video I'll let you know.
We cannot reproduce the issue. The issue you're reporting can only occur in the case mentioned here.Â
